Parameters

ENTROPY is organized into four control groups with 23 parameters in total.

Group 01

Probability

These controls decide when crushing happens, how often it repeats, and whether it follows raw samples or synced musical time.

Parameter	Range	Default	Description
Chaos	0% — 100%	0%	Global probability that an evaluation window enters crush processing. Log-scaled — small values produce sparse, infrequent artifacts.
Hang	0% — 100%	0%	Probability that the current crush decision persists into the next evaluation window. Creates longer damage bursts and frozen-state behavior.
Window	1 — 4096 samples	1	Sample window over which crush decisions are evaluated. Larger windows produce blockier, more sustained artifacts.
Window Sync	Free, 1/1 — 1/128	Free	Overrides Window with a host-tempo note division when the host provides BPM and transport sample position.

Group 02

Preserve

Threshold, routing, and randomness options decide what material stays safe and how the damage engine behaves when it is allowed through.

Parameter	Range	Default	Description
Preserve	-60 dB — 0 dB	-60 dB	Envelope gate threshold. Signals above this level bypass processing, protecting transients from destruction.
Preserve Inverse	Off / On	Off	When enabled, inverts the gate — only signals above the threshold are crushed, leaving quiet passages clean.
Crush Mode	5 modes	Flip	Determines how selected bits are damaged: flipped, dropped, set, wrapped, or used as a mask.
Band Mode	4 modes	Full	Constrains the wet/dry damage delta to full-band, low-safe, high-only, or mid-damage routing.
Seed Mode	Free, Locked, Host	Free	Controls randomness. Free runs continuously, Locked repeats a stable pattern, Host ties decisions to host sample position when available.

Group 03

Bits

Each bit lane gets its own probability, letting you target coarse structure or only the finest layers of digital noise.

B4	0% — 100%	100%	Per-bit crush probability for bit 4.
B5	0% — 100%	100%	Per-bit crush probability for bit 5.
B6	0% — 100%	100%	Per-bit crush probability for bit 6.
B7	0% — 100%	100%	Per-bit crush probability for bit 7.
B8 (LSB)	0% — 100%	100%	Per-bit crush probability for bit 8 (least significant). Affects fine-grain noise floor and low-level texture.

Group 04

Output

The final stage adds timing glitches, stereo placement, and level control so the crushed signal lands exactly where you want it.

Glitch Random	Off / On	Off	When enabled, glitch timing activates randomly per evaluation window rather than on every window.
Glitch Sync	Free, 1/1 — 1/128	Free	Quantizes glitch timing to a host-tempo note division when available. The UI exposes steady/random behavior next to the Glitch control.
Mix	0% — 100%	100%	Dry/wet blend between the unprocessed input and the crushed output.
Width	0% — 100%	100%	Stereo width of the crushed signal path. 0% folds to mono, 100% keeps full channel independence.
Output	-24 dB — +24 dB	0 dB	Output gain applied after all processing.
