Parameters

SPECTRA is organized into four control groups with 12 parameters in total.

Group 01

Dispersion

Controls how phase relationships spread and smear over time and across the spectrum.

Parameter	Range	Default	Description
Dispersion	0% — 100%	0%	Amount of random phase rotation applied per frequency bin. 0% = no phase change. 100% = full stochastic scatter across all bins.
Focus	-100% — +100%	0%	Biases phase dispersion toward high or low bins. Positive values push the smear into higher frequencies; negative values push it into lower frequencies.
Blur	0 ms — 200 ms	0 ms	Frame averaging — blends spectral magnitude across consecutive STFT frames, smearing transients in time.

Group 02

Distort

Shapes bin energy with saturation functions and feedback for more unstable spectral damage.

Saturate	0% — 100%	0%	Applies the selected saturation function to spectral magnitude bins before reconstruction.
Sat Mode	6 modes	Tanh	Saturation function used for spectral magnitude shaping. See Saturation Modes below.
Feedback	0% — 100%	0%	Routes the output back into the input before FFT. Creates self-reinforcing spectral loops and resonance at high values.
Glitch	0% — 100%	0%	Probability that a captured spectral frame is replayed instead of the current frame. At 100%, the frame fully holds.

Group 03

Spectral

Moves, filters, and reduces frequency bins to reshape harmonic structure and texture density.

Shift	-1000 Hz — +1000 Hz	0 Hz	Shifts all frequency bins up or down by a fixed Hz offset. Creates inharmonic transpositions and metallic resonance.
Gate	-90 dB — 0 dB	-90 dB	Spectral gate — bins below this magnitude threshold are zeroed before reconstruction.
Redux	0% — 100%	0%	Merges adjacent frequency bins — reduces spectral resolution, creating blocky metallic artifacts.

Group 04

Output

Sets the final balance between dry and processed signal and trims the level after reconstruction.

Saturation Modes

6 saturation functions applied to spectral magnitude bins. Set via Sat Mode in the plugin UI.

Tanh Hyperbolic tangent — smooth, warm saturation

Sigmoid S-curve limiting — gentle knee with soft clip ceiling

Softplus Smooth asymmetric log(1 + e^x) — one-sided emphasis

HardClip Hard ceiling — brutal spectral flattening above threshold

ReLU Rectified linear — zeroes negative magnitudes, passes positives unchanged

Sine Sine-shaped saturation — adds cyclical spectral folding
